Gen Z is seldom out of the news these days, so we caught up with one of our brilliant Gen Z employees, Tom Dean, to get his fresh perspective on a few issues…
What’s your main role at Impellus? And what specifically do you bring to the Company as a Gen Z employee?
As the CRM Marketing Executive at Impellus, I work in the sales team to generate leads and sales opportunities for new business, but also for our existing customer base. I create, plan and implement marketing campaigns. To do this, I ensure our CRM is fully up to date, as complete as possible and meets the Company’s own quality standards.
As a Gen Z employee, I am very interested in the technological landscape and the AI revolution and how we can integrate AI into our CRM to be able to effectively target customers at the best possible time. Along with this, I thoroughly enjoy the social aspects at Impellus, getting to know my colleagues better. We have a fantastic team here so it’s great to get together as often as possible.
What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Results. Whether that’s using the CRM to find an answer to a colleague’s question or creating successful marketing campaigns. Anything that helps customers get the most out their training is what I find most rewarding. I also enjoy learning a lot from my colleagues, who have a wide range of experience and knowledge.
Briefly describe a typical day or week.
Every week begins with a Company-wide breakfast meeting on Monday morning. Getting the whole team together is really beneficial and a great start to the week. The rest of the week is less predictable. There are certain tasks to be done every week, reporting results for example, but no two days or weeks are the same as a lot of my work is dependent on projects and requests from colleagues as they arise. I really enjoy the variety and pace of my working week.
What advice would you give someone to ensure they get the most out of their training with Impellus? Any specific advice for Gen Z?
Your organisation has invested in you and the sooner you get booked onto your courses, the faster you’ll see the results. Get as many courses booked in straight away and let your team know that you are not available on those days, so that you can get the most out of the training without any distractions. On your course, use the workbook provided to make as many notes as you can, so that you can refer to it throughout the rest of your career. Our trainers and our courses are first class but you’ll only get the best results if you fully apply yourself to the courses and your programme.
