Due to the fact I work in a small accountancy practice, it gave me an insight into the processes and methods used by larger corporations. The courses had participants from all different sized businesses and industries and it gave me a good understanding of how these techniques apply to different situations.
Completing the Impellus courses allowed me to mix with many different individuals from organisations working in different industries. This made break-out rooms and discussions very interesting due to the range of skills, knowledge, and personalities present throughout the courses, and it was fascinating to hear different ideas and points of view. I found the Effective Communication Skills course helpful, it opened my eyes to how even body language can be a form of communication that may come across as negative. It has shown me I need to be more aware of how I come across to others when communicating with them.
I was slightly skeptical about the online learning side of things, but it worked well, especially with the breakout rooms. Having a wide range of different courses to suit individual needs is also a great idea.
My dread of turning in written assessments has been vanquished thanks to this course. Essays have never really appealed to me, but once again, I showed that I can accomplish anything by working hard and finishing it just in time for the lecture. My grasp of how to handle innovation and change inside an organisation, as well as how to interact with various stakeholders, staff members, etc., has expanded greatly as a result of this training. Two years ago, I embarked on two long-term qualifications with the Impellus Business School – one in Organisational Leadership and one in Strategic Thinking and Decision Making. My favourite aspect of the courses was the unique opportunity to get the perspectives on leadership and management from a diverse, enthusiastic and open minded individuals who attend the course. The collaborative mode of learning facilitated by the course leads was great for exploring the content.
