Online training that delivers real and immediate workplace benefits
Impellus online open training courses are bright, engaging and challenging.
They do not tell managers what they should do in an ideal world, rather they’re designed to challenge even the best managers who have the potential to go further; to get them to stand back and to assume responsibility for their output and results.
Clients report high levels of change and improvement in the performance of managers and their teams after Impellus training. You can read what our delegates say about the training here.
What’s it like on an Impellus online open training course?
Our online open training courses are designed to be ‘the same as but different to’ our physical open training courses.
The same course, interaction, challenge, comfort level and buzz. The same interaction with peers from other organisations who are facing similar challenges. The same real-world focus and analysis. The same work books and online tools.
Just delivered online from the comfort of wherever you choose to engage.
What are the timings of my online Impellus course?
Our open courses run tightly to their time schedules for the benefit of planning, comfort and respect for all delegates.
Your full timetable for each course is available separately, but here are the common timings for each day on all courses:
Before the course starts
You will receive an email notification at point of booking and your full delegate pack in the post a couple of days before it starts. You’ll also receive the names, job titles and organisation names of your co-delegates and, essentially, the link to access the course.
The key timings for each day are as follows:
Log in and welcome. All delegates are advised to be logged in comfortably before the course gets going bang on the dot of 9:30.
1:00 – 2:00 pm
4:00 – 4:30 pm
Course day finishes with final Q&A session including your ability to send in private questions for the trainer to answer after the course.
Will there be breaks on the course?
Each day is split into four main sessions with breaks in between them. Each session in turn has a mini break – sometimes a quick opportunity for a comfort break, sometimes it’ll be an exercise to do on your own with a moment built in to get comfortable again.
What if I have technical trouble?
Call 0800 619 1230 at any time if you need help accessing your course and our course administration team will be able to guide you through getting online.
Note: we thoroughly recommend performing an access trial before your course starts to minimise disruption on the day. There is no provision in our terms and conditions for moving or refunding a course if you are unable to access it on the day for a matter outside our control.
How interactive is the course?
Just as interactive as a physical Impellus open training course. Delegates will be asked to challenge and interact in the normal way, just through different channels.
We use the latest technology to ensure that delegates can interact as much or as little as they are comfortable with in differing ways. We use group, private and ‘breakout group’ conversations to stimulate comfortable interaction, conversation and debate.
What’s the online etiquette?
The trainer will always ensure that you’re aware of how each day will run and we ask you to engage in that way. We want the day to be enjoyable and useful for every delegate.
Please keep to timings, ensure that you follow instructions for muting or un-muting your microphone and be as respectful to other delegates as you would in a physical surrounding.
Is there a dress code?
Not specifically although please note that the following may lead the trainer to terminating your place or asking you to leave the course temporarily or permanently without a refund: wearing, or having in sight of your camera, any; nightwear, politically or socially insensitive clothing, nudity or inappropriate clothing. We have full and unilateral discretion in our judgement and actions here.
Wear something comfortable and ensure you look ‘approachable’ in your video window – think about your background too. Smart casual is fine and remember you’re representing your employer as well as yourself. Logoed work-wear is fine.
Please let others in your home or work place know to give you some peace if possible and don’t have TVs or music on in the background at any time. Thank you.
What are the top tips for getting the most from the day?
- Ensure you’ve done a log-in test at least a day or two before the course begins – ideally from the location and definitely from the device you’ll use for the course
- Ensure your chosen location is comfortable in terms of:
- The height of the screen and camera
- The heating and lighting in the room
- Have your workbook and materials to hand before the course starts
- Ensure you have drinks and snacks ready to go if you’d like them
- Go to the loo before you start your course!
- Use the breaks in the day to change scenery, keep refreshed and think about how the material can impact your work
- Let others in your home or workplace know not to disturb you
- Don’t have TVs or music on in the background
- It’s good not to sit with light or windows behind you as this makes you very difficult to see
- Interact fully with the material and challenge it accordingly
- Think about where you can make the most difference
- Engage with your co-delegates in a constructive, friendly and professional manner. Most people are quite surprised about what they learn – in many ways – from their co-delegates
